In 2021, Heavy Foundations were engaged by J Moore Builders to complete the foundation bored piles and shoring walls for a complex renovation atop the headland.
In total, we provided:
- 60 underpinning CFA foundation piles;
- 58 contiguous CFA wall piles; and
- tremmie-poured conventional bored foundation piles for the crane base.
The foundation piles were 5m deep and the shoring wall for the new garage had 8m long piles. During the drilling, it was determined that the ground conditions were actually more dense and the rock was closer to the surface than anticipated. Therefore, through on-site discussions with the engineers we were able to shorten some of the piles to create a soldier pile wall that still retained the loose sand but did not require the same extent of drilling and would have cost more for the client.
After the first two stages of the job, we were further engaged to complete the piling required for the crane base, as well as the foundation piles under the stairs in the garage.
